ENCORE: I have done a ton of research on Baby Boomers, the first of which applied for SS at the beginning of this year. In the middle of the last century, people lived an average of one year beyond retirement; that has now grown to an average in excess of twenty years. Soooo, the new motto for the Baby Boomer (of which I am proudly one): "Eighty is the new sixty!" And, if that is true (and it is), then SIXTY is the new FORTY. Additionally, by the year 2025, those over 65 will outnumber teens by two to one. These realities are forcing businesses and churches to take a fresh look at their attitudes toward and appreciation of this aging generation. They have health, energy, and experience which enables them to be a significant part of business and church life. I am invigorated by the dream of continuing to have a major role in significant service in the "Encore Years" of my adult life. The "silver sunami" is here!!! Look out generation x'rs -- here we come!!!

Oh man, when I posted my comment I realized that you wouldn't just automatically know who "mom" was. That's my signature for my kids blogs. Sorry :-) I don't know how to change it so just get used to it!!
